Weekly Reflection #2 5/22/22

After a successful first week, I was excited to dive into a second week of more professional interviews. These interviews included an old sports psychologist I used to work with in Colorado, the sports psychologist at Proctor, and the head of the DP2 (Dartmouth Peak Performance) at Dartmouth College. These interviews gave me an interesting point of view of the study of sports psychology, where I was talking to the professionals about the strategies they use with athletes and how they became a certified professional. Some of the strategies I had heard before, such as breathing, visualization, and journaling. Other strategies were mental congruence, as well as a device called the Inner Balance. Along with strategies, the interviewees spoke on the two different routes to becoming a sports psychologist, one that went right through college, and the other that was an after college program that allowed them to start with clinical psychology and then move into sports psychology. I was also recommended everything from books, to podcasts, to even case studies to look into. Overall I am very happy with how the interviews and the research is turning out, and I am also happy to have met some professionals that have offered me their help if I ever need it in the future.
